The Influence of Ethical Sensitivity of Professional Ethics on Job Satisfaction of Certified Caregivers for Elders with Dementia

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to identify the degree of professional ethics, ethical sensitivity, job satisfaction of certified caregivers for elder with dementia, and the factors that affect job satisfaction. In order to collect data, structured questionnaire was used for 212 caregivers who worked at 4 dementia specialized facilities located in D city. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficient and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 20.0. Job satisfaction had positive relationship with professional ethics(r=.506, p<.001), and ethical sensitivity(r=.373, p<.001). And the prediction factor influencing job satisfaction was career(¥â=.158, p=.017), professional ethics(¥â=381, p<.001) and ethical sensitivity(¥â=.316, p<.001). The total variance was 36.2% by predictors(F=20.988, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, in order to improve the job satisfaction of caregivers for elder with dementia it should be given regular ethics education program to improve professional ethics and ethical sensitivity.
